The Situation

As you will be aware, due to the pandemic and social distancing, we have had to suspend meetings for the immediate future, so please do not try and turn up on a Thursday for the time being.

We are however going to upgrade our website to include writing activities, forums and lots of other collaborative enterprises!

Additionally! This may give scope to Virtual Membership – For a small consideration, writers will theoretically be able to sign up and have access to all of the collected wisdom of SWC, in whatever form it will shortly take.

If you have thoughts or suggestions on this, please get in touch, else keep an eye out for the impending improvements…

The Next Few Meetings

Hello writers! SWC has decided to continue meeting every Thursday for the immediate future, depending if the current Covid 19 situation escalates further.

If you are choosing to attend, please take sensible precautions and supply your own hand gel if required.

In the event that we do have to suspend meetings, we will be switching to a forum on this website until meetings are safe to resume.

Until then, we will continue writing and sharing in person, until it no longer becomes tenable. We understand if you choose not to attend, but we welcome you to send greetings/work via email southportwriterscircle@yahoo.co.uk and we will get back to you as and when possible.

Short Story Results Update and Poetry 2020 Launch

We have our winners! Entrants of the Short Story competition will be glad to know that we have the final list and are contacting them now. Keep an eye on your emails!
The Awards night with Dr Anna Maddison is going ahead, 05/03 8-10pm and general availability of results will be occurring on here and elsewhere thereafter.

We at SWC are sadly compelled to point out to some of our entrants this year that we are a small enthusiast group and sometimes delays happen. Certain people have been a bit overkeen and almost fell afoul of the Rules. We appreciate every writer wants to be recognised, but extenuating circumstances do occur and we have appreciated the patience of the majority.

In other news, out 2020 Poetry competition is in mid-launch, go have a look at the Competitions page to get ahead of the game and send your entries before the everyone hears about it!
