On Saturday the 6th of May, 11.30 AM, why not join us in the Theatre Bar of the Atkinson, where we will be setting up one of our infamous creative writing workshops as part of the Southport Festival?
We are taking taking requests for activities, but many of the old favourites will be returning, such as Insta-Poem and Reverse Story. Come down and exercise your literary muscles, or maybe just come dip a toe in the water and enjoy some speedily made-up entertainment!
The 2017 Poetry comp is now official, being judged by none other than Orbis’ own star editor, Carole Baldock. Want to impress? Get your entries in now!

Our meeting on the 17th will be a special one, as the esteemed northern poet Stephen Beattie will be joining us to talk about his success with publishing poems in a tough market as well as reading us some of his selected work.
No need to book, just come and see, usual place, usual time.
On the 22nd September we are hosting one of our wonderful Open Mike nights. Come one and all to Parenting 2000 and bring your poems, prose and anything else you would like to read, up to 5 minutes in length.

We are pleased to welcome Sally-Anne Tapia-Bowes to our midst on 25th August to talk about her work and share a few writing tips. Come one, come all and enjoy the promise of a stimulating evening.
Good news! Our Poetry Adjudication evening is back on with the wonderful Lindsey Holland. It will be taking place on the 14th July, usual time, usual place. All poets (and indeed non-poets) are invited to come partake and hear the winning entries and Lindsey’s own discussion.
Sorry all, the adjudication for the 16th has had to to be cancelled for actually quite good reasons. We do still plan to hold it in a couple of weeks, so keep eyes peeled. Winners shall be being informed shortly.

On 16th June, we welcome the poet Lindsey Holland at our usual venue for the SWC Poetry Competetion judging and talk. Hope to see you there!
As part of the Southport Festival/ Arts Trail we are hosting two events.
Saturday 30th 2-4pm – Writing Workshop, ArtHouse building, Eastbank Street – Come and stretch your writing muscles in a bout of guided exercises and creatives exercises designed to make you think and enjoy.
Thursday 5th, 8-10pm – Open Mike Night, Parenting 2000, Mornington Road – Come join us for a session of fine entertainment, or perhaps join in and read us any poetry, flash fiction, monologue or anything else you want to perform. 5 minutes or less in length please.
