We are pleased to welcome Sally-Anne Tapia-Bowes to our midst on 25th August to talk about her work and share a few writing tips. Come one, come all and enjoy the promise of a stimulating evening.
Good news! Our Poetry Adjudication evening is back on with the wonderful Lindsey Holland. It will be taking place on the 14th July, usual time, usual place. All poets (and indeed non-poets) are invited to come partake and hear the winning entries and Lindsey’s own discussion.
Sorry all, the adjudication for the 16th has had to to be cancelled for actually quite good reasons. We do still plan to hold it in a couple of weeks, so keep eyes peeled. Winners shall be being informed shortly.
EDIT – We ARE at our usual venue on the 12th May for the Joan Nicholson Awards, sorry for the mixup.
On 16th June, we welcome the poet Lindsey Holland at our usual venue for the SWC Poetry Competetion judging and talk. Hope to see you there!
As part of the Southport Festival/ Arts Trail we are hosting two events.
Saturday 30th 2-4pm – Writing Workshop, ArtHouse building, Eastbank Street – Come and stretch your writing muscles in a bout of guided exercises and creatives exercises designed to make you think and enjoy.
Thursday 5th, 8-10pm – Open Mike Night, Parenting 2000, Mornington Road – Come join us for a session of fine entertainment, or perhaps join in and read us any poetry, flash fiction, monologue or anything else you want to perform. 5 minutes or less in length please.
Good day all!
Many updates! Short story competition results are on the site! Last years poetry winners available to read! This years poetry competition launched! Good luck all!
Hello fellow writers! Just to let you know that the Short Story 2015 has been judged and the winners contacted, we are just waiting on a couple of things before we publish the results (and winning entries) on here. If you haven’t been contacted, then sorry, you havent won and we wish you the best of luck for next year.
In other news, the Poetry 2016 comp will be launched very soon, with a excellent poet as judge, stay tuned….
Thank you so very much to all those who entered our short story competition this year (a lot) and thank you to all the well-wishers and hopefuls who dropped us a friendly message (Slough Writers, looking at you 😉 )
We however, as the rules say, cannot respond to any queries about entries or payments (unless something has gone awry), so sorry to those who have requested info, but it would not be fair (or practical) to respond to everyone.
Anyway! It is indeed closed for entries and the pile is being processed, so come (at some point) in December we shall announce winners! Good luck to you all and may your pens ever be as sharp as your wit!
As part of the Off The Page event, we are doing one of our infamous creative Workshops! Join us and have your imaginative side tickled till it falls over.
