Chief Judge: Robert Scott-Norton is a successful indie author famed for his ongoing intricate sci-fi series ‘The Tombs Legacy’. He is a resident of Southport and has concluded that the ordinary seaside town is the perfect setting for all the horrors he can throw at it. He enjoys a variety of fiction, but is drawn to the works of Stephen King and all things Doctor Who. He is, however, looking forward to the range of genres that this annual competition will bring.

Lindsey’s small collection Particle Soup appeared with KFS in 2012. In 2015 she was shortlisted for the Manchester Poetry Prize and also placed in the Wigtown, Café Writers and Wenlock poetry competitions. She will be a Hawthornden Fellow in 2016. She studied at the University of Warwick and worked for Heaventree Press whilst completing an MA in Writing there. She founded the network North West Poets, for which she edited and published two anthologies. She teaches Creative Writing at Edge Hill University and is co-editor of the online poetry magazine The Compass. Her pamphlet The Lanterns is forthcoming from Eyewear in March 2016 and she is currently working on Bloodlines, a full collection of poetry which draws on research into her family history.

About the final adjudicator.
Stephen Beattie is a Lincolnshire born poet who is currently based on Merseyside. His work has been widely published in poetry magazines both in the UK and USA and has been broadcast on local and national radio. He has had success in a number of national poetry competitions and had his poems included in several anthologies.
His first collection, ‘Treading The Helix’ was published by Indigo Dreams Publishing in 2010, his second collection, ‘Between The Lines’ will be published in early 2014.

Actor, author, playwright, musician, award winner, Dennis Conlon has had various roles in the entertainment industry for many years, including parts in films/tv such as Rita, Sue & Bob Too all the way through to Shameless. He is always on the lookout for original formats and enjoys writing that involves real life experience. He is currently working on a semi-autobiographical work that highlights some of the outrageous excesses of the sixties and European/American relationships of the time. He is far too fond of Yorkshire.

 Chief Judge: Dr. Valerie Williamson

 Val Williamson short fiction has been published in magazines, and in collections including Time Out and Richard and Judy’s Winning Stories, and broadcast on BBC radio. She writes in several genres for adults and children, and has been published in magazines as diverse as Back Street Heroes, My Weekly and Twinkle Comic. More recently she has published chapters in academic books about cultural engagement with fiction and its genres in several media. Val has tutored writers at events including the Writers’ Summer School and the Writers’ Holiday, and has now possibly adjudicated more competitions than she has entered.
